    Mountain restaurants
La Bergerie (00 33 492 21 81 06) in Le Chalvet and Les Anges (00 33 614 61 97 52) in Gondrans are both good and boast sweeping mountain views.
Locals tend to head into town for lunch (Le Petit Creux and Outside Burger get pleasantly busy) or make their way to the Italian side of the Milky Way – neighbouring Claviere has some charming, rustic mountain restaurants.
Restaurants in town
There are about a dozen restaurants in Montgenèvre, catering for most tastes and budgets. Both French and Italian culinary influences are strong: Le Jamy (00 33 492 21 92 62) serves authentic French specialities and Le Refuge (00 33 492 21 92 97) does a delicious raclette, while Le Capitaine (00 33 492 21 89 84) and Le Napoléon (00 33 479 21 94 60) offer wood fire pizzas and pasta.
The new restaurant La Table Blanche in Hotel Chalet Blanc is Monty’s gourmet dining option and well worth splashing out on. The Graal Cafe, part of the friendly Hotel Alpis Cottia, is a good, inexpensive opton for lunch or dinner in town.
Après-ski & nightlife
Monty is no great party town, with a pretty subdued nightlife. Le Jamy and Refuge attract the ‘straight off the slopes’ crowds while Le Graal, Pub Chaberton and the bar in the Les Rois Mages hotel pick up in the evening. The Ca del Sol makes a pleasant spot for a quiet drink.
The village nightclub is the Blue Night disco, which gets lively at weekends.
