Paris-Nord to Paris-Austerlitz
You can change from Paris-Nord station to Paris-Austerlitz station easily by pre-booked taxi, or a taxi from the taxi rank
Prebooked taxis
The easiest way to change stations in Paris is with a pre-booked taxi. The driver either waits at the end of the train platform holding a card with your name on it, or at a pre-arranged meeting point just outside the station.
The vehicles are spacious and can take skis and snowboards (at no extra cost). If your train is delayed (rare) the driver will wait for you. All the drivers speak English.
The drive from Paris-Nord to Paris-Austerlitz takes around 30 minutes in the taxi. However, you should allow a minimum of one hour in total (i.e. Eurostar arrival to onward train departure) for the change from Paris-Nord to Paris-Austerlitz, to be on the safe side, and more if you want to stop for lunch, obviously.
Ski-Lifts prebooked taxis

What's the pre-booked taxi service like?

We've made a one-minute film about it to show exactly what it is like - and had quite a lot of fun doing it!
Certainly a good way of travel for a family or a group of friends. It just makes things very easy.
The film shows the journey from Paris-Nord to Paris-Lyon; going form Paris-Lyon to Paris-Austerlitz is similar in duration.

Taxi rank
When you arrive at Paris-Nord on a Eurostar, you can turn right and exit the station (30 metres) and the taxi rank is right there.
Taxis arrive constantly and even when there is a queue, it rarely lasts more than 10 minutes.
The drive from Paris Nord to Paris Austerlitz takes around 15 - 25 minutes by taxi.
The price from Paris-Nord to Paris-Austerlitz is 15€ - 20€ per four-person taxi. These can carries skis or snowboards. There is normally a 1€ charge per big piece of luggage.
The Metro (involves stairs)
The Metro isn't recommended for Paris-Nord to Paris-Austerlitz because the platforms are only accessed by stairs. Sure, if you are feeling fit and don't mind lifting your luggage up and down them then it isn't difficult. But we would recommend taking a taxi instead. The Metro journey between Paris-Nord and Paris-Austerlitz takes 20 minutes, with trains running every six minutes. A ticket costs about 2€, and you can save time by buying a carnet of 10 from a Eurostar or TGV cafe-bar. Allow 50 minutes for the transfer in total.
Take Metro Line 5 towards Place d'Italie (get off at Gare d’Austerlitz)
But we wouldn't recommend this way of transferring if you have heavy cases, because you have to go up and down a set of stairs with about 15 steps, at least twice.
The ticket entry gates on the Metro can be a bit narrow to enter with a wide suitcase. Look for the wide-entry gate, which has a button that you press for it to open.
