Winter 2017-18 ski holidays by train - preview
You might be one of the many skiers who are already looking ahead to booking rail-ski holidays for the 2017 – 18 season.
Planning ahead is a good idea because you can start getting things sorted, in terms of choosing the most suitable resort and booking the best accommodation – either as part of a rail-inclusive ski package, or in combination with independent rail tickets once they go on sale.
There are plenty of ski holiday by train packages already on sale rom ski tour operators who have their own separate allocation of seats on the Eurostar Ski Train. You can browse these in our rail-ski packages section. Similarly, there are rail ski packages from tour operators who use estimated prices until the trains go on sale, and then can book the rail travel element for you as soon as the trains are on sale. It can be useful to have an approximate price prediction of how much independent fares will cost, so I’ve put one together. Predicting fares isn’t an exact science, but after many years of doing this, I'm getting pretty accurate.
These prices are based on achievable fares if you book tickets when, or in the week or so after fares go on sale.
What happens once the trains go on sale is that the prices tend to creep up gradually, as the cheaper fares sell out.
On peak dates, such as New Year, February half-term and Easter, train prices start relatively high (even if they are still good value vs flying) and just remain that way. It should also be noted that the daytime Eurostar Ski Train normally sells out within four hours of going on sale (but other trains take much longer to sell out. Most trains don't sell out, but just have much higher prices near the date of travel.

When do trains go on sale?
The daytime and the overnight Eurostar Ski Train will go on sale around mid July 2017, for all dates of the winter season.
Indirect journeys to the Alps, by Eurostar to Paris and then TGV, go on sale around 90 days in advance of the date of travel.
