Eurostar Ski Trains on sale Thurs 16th July
Eurostar has announced that its Ski Train to the French Alps will go on sale at 11am on Thursday 16th July.
The Ski Train 2015-16
From 16th July you'll be able to book the Ski Train for any date in the winter season. For the daytime train, the first outbound departure is Saturday 19th December, and the last outbound departure is on Saturday 2nd April, returning a week later. However for the overnight service, the first outbound departure is not until Friday 1st January, with the final outbound on Friday 1st April, returning from the Alps on Saturday 9th April. Normally the overnight train runs on Christmas and New Year weeks, but not this year, due to the days of the week that Boxing Day falls on.
The Ski Train timetable is much the same as last year. You still get into Moutiers blisteringly early, at 5:33, with plenty/too much time to prepare for your first tracks.
New service via Lyon
Eurostar's new direct service between London and Lyon also goes on sale on Thursday 16th July for the entire winter season. This new route connects some great resorts that until now, required a change in Paris to reach from the UK by train. Resorts include Alpe d'Huez, La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand, Val Cenis, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Morzine, Megeve, Saint Gervais, and Les Contamines.
However, the entire journey can't be booked yet, just the London-Lyon section. The local trains are bookable 90 - 120 days in advance, but fortunately they have fairly fixed (and inexpensive) prices.
