Eurostar Ski Train - probably goes on sale Wed 17th July

I phoned Eurostar’s Reservations yesterday. This is the sales call-centre that you can phone to buy tickets over the phone. (The phone number is (+44) 03432 186 186, for reference).

Here’s how the conversation went:
Me: “Hello, do you happen to know when tickets for the Eurostar Ski Train go on sale?”
Eurostar reservations person: “Yes, tickets should go on sale on Wednesday 17th July at 8am.”
Me: “Thanks, is that date definite?”
Eurostar reservations person: “I can’t say 100% — but it’s the date we’ve been told.”
Me: “Thank you.”

What’s important to emphasise is that Eurostar has not announced this date officially yet - so please treat it as provisional. And Eurostar probably won’t do so for a number of days. Indeed, last year, Eurostar only officially announced the date of sale one day before, which of course makes things difficult for anyone trying to plan to book as soon as tickets go on sale. That’s why I thought it would be useful to share with you what I found just by phoning up the call centre.

So, if you are keen to book the Eurostar Ski Train as soon as it goes on sale, then:
1. Put Wed 17th July in your diary, but mark it as ‘provisional’ — because it’s not 100% official.
2. As soon as the date is confirmed officially, I’ll post here and also send this news in the Snowcarbon newsletter (you can sign up to the newsletter using the form at the bottom of any page on the Snowcarbon website.
3. Remember, there are plenty of indirect journeys to the Alps (e.g. by Eurostar + TGV), which go on sale from October, and which we can certainly highly recommend as alternatives to the Ski Train.
