Eurostar Ski Train to the Alps versus Easjet - prices
Travelling to a ski resort is never quick, whether you go by plane, train or car. And surprisingly perhaps, if you are taking a train down to the Tarentaise region of the Alps, it takes about the same time as flying - sometimes quicker. You are going to spend around 8-9 hours getting there, however you go (and that is without flight delays)
But how does the cost of travelling independently the Alps by train compare with flying?
Here's a comparison of the current prices (checked today) for the Eurostar Ski Train to Moutiers, Aime and Bourg St Maurice versus Easyjet to Gatwick to Geneva.

We researched the daytime Eurostar Ski Train (return) and compared this to the 09:55 flight from Gatwick to Geneva, and the 11:15 Geneva to Gatwick. The travel was with one piece of luggage and one pair of skis.
(Remember that the price of a shared taxi from Geneva to Meribel in Three Valleys, for example, is 65 euros per person or 270 euros for a private transfer (source: Threevalleetransfers), and a taxi is around 50 - 70 euros per taxi.)
Interesting that on some dates the train costs more and on others the plane costs more.
But once you factor in a stop-start journey spent queueing, versus a far more enjoyable, hassle-free quality journey (you decide which is which!) you might ask yourself "How much is my time worth?"
